The inaugural meeting of the WA branch of the Australian Society of Rheology was held in Perth in NOember last year, with the objective of drawing together the rheology community in the state.  This one day seminar on 17th November covered a wide range of materials processing applications. Keynote lectures were given on flow of mineral slurries (Professor Paul Slatter, RMIT), rheometry of mixtures (Andrew Chryss, CSIRO) and characterising materials for medical applications (Dr Michael Glinsky, CSIRO CEO Science Leader). Below is a photo of the approximately 40 attendees.

On the 6th December, RMIT's Rheology and Materials Processing Centre will be running a thickened sludge pumping seminar at the Rydges Carlton Hotel, Melbourne.
